New Circle and Avans University of Applied Sciences join forces in JTF biobased adhesive project
New Circle has officially signed a collaboration agreement with Avans Hogeschool (Avans University of Applied Sciences) in Breda. The collaboration is part of our JTF project to develop a demountable biobased adhesive for the roofing industry.
Pooling knowledge and networks
Within the collaboration, Avans professors and graduating students work with the New Circle team on researching and further developing the biobased adhesive. The university contributes research capacity and materials expertise, while New Circle brings practical knowledge of the roofing industry and the testing programme that is already under way. This combination should speed up development.
For students, it is also an opportunity to work on a real-world innovation project: from laboratory testing to application on the roof.
Why a demountable biobased adhesive?
Fossil-based adhesives contaminate roofing materials and bond them permanently. As a result, materials such as EPDM, bitumen and PVC cannot be separated at the end of their service life and end up as waste. Our biobased adhesive is demountable: materials can be cleanly dismantled and reused. This makes large-scale reuse of roofing materials possible and reduces the carbon footprint of the roofing industry.
