From technical drawings to biobased innovation: meet Kas Beemsterboer!
As a temporary member of the New Circle team, Kas is right in the middle of the development process. He mainly works on developing our adhesive and our corner profile. He is currently producing the technical drawings for the corner piece, which means he is contributing directly to tangible innovations within our company.
Kas sees his internship as a valuable and educational addition to his studies. Whereas he normally deals a lot with solar panels and insulation materials, at New Circle he finds it fascinating to see behind the scenes how new products are developed from the ground up.
What do you think is the biggest misconception about circular or biobased construction?
“That circular material is by definition made from waste, whereas biobased material doesn’t have to be. Take our corner profile: it is made from sugar cane that isn’t suitable for commercial sale. That sugar cane isn’t waste, because it is also used to make spirits, for example. So it is a valuable raw material that we put to smart use.”
Kas describes the culture at New Circle as a place where people work hard to make the world a better place, but with a healthy business drive behind it. Or, as they like to put it in the office: “GreenRight”.
Although Kas currently works closely with ‘the big boss’ and so doesn’t yet have any specific tips for fitting into a large team, he himself certainly found his feet in no time.
“Outside work, I like to keep active. You’ll regularly find me on the padel court or at the gym, keeping fit.”
Finally, something people might not immediately expect from Kas: “I never really find anything difficult.” With that down-to-earth attitude, he is a great addition to our team!
